La band originaria di Exeter, il cui background musicale pesca apertamente nell'hardcore punk e nel garage rock, torna nei negozi con un album registrato in Cornovaglia e prodotto da David McEwan (Plan B, Nitin Sawhney). Il loro sound incorpora influenze blues e soul oltre ad una componente indie che riporta alla mente più Arctic Monkeys che Gallows, Apologies I Have None o The Loved Ones. Un'evoluzione sistematica che ha portato gli autori di 'This Is The Computers' a cambiare completamente forma, prima con 'Love Triangles Hate Squares' e poi con 'Birth/Death'. L'ingresso in formazione del chitarrista James Mattock, ex Sharks, e del bassista Thomas McMahon ha fatto saltare ancora una volta il tavolo e spinto i suoni sempre più verso i The Clash ed il rock degli anni sessanta. Alex Kershaw ha dei numeri e lo dimostra soprattutto con 'Want The News? Here's The Blue...', 'This Ain't Right' e 'God Only Knows'. Come suggerisce il titolo, 'Birth/Death' si apre con una canzone sulla nascita e si chiude con una sulla morte e spicca sicuramente nel catalogo di un'etichetta elitaria come One Little Indian. Adesso i The Computers dovranno scegliere da che parte stare ma se le loro performance dal vivo continueranno a mantenersi su livelli elevati tale decisione potrebbe non comportare grossi sussulti.
