“This song has always been a special one to me. One of those songs that just feels like one of the strongest ones I’ve written and in New York City it was always a favourite with the musicians at our jams. 'It's You That's Changing' is a song about feeling overwhelmed by the harshness of the world and how it all affects us, and how we handle it on a daily basis. And in this case also how it affects a relationship. It's incredible to have Arum Rae sing on it. I first met Arum when we were recording our second record ‘Broken Side Of Time’ In Austin, Texas. Our producer at the time kept raving about her in the studio and when we finally heard her sing we all agreed she was very special. She felt like an old soul in a young body. Nina Simone and Billie Holiday vibes. Arum eventually moved to NYC where we all lived for many years so she joined our beautiful music community there and often sang at our secret late night jams in the East and West Village. She most likely sang this song with me back then but we were probably too tipsy then to remember it now. She recorded these vocals beautifully with the help of my dear buddy Mark Watrous (The Shins, The Raconteurs & Earl Burrows) in his awesome studio in Nashville, Tennessee”.
